What is the difference between station-based airplay charts and genre-based airplay charts?

What is the difference between station-based airplay charts and genre-based airplay charts?

Most of the Billboard airplay charts are "station-based". Stations qualify for the chart based on the type of music they play, the percentage of Current songs being played, and their ratings. On station-based charts, all songs being played by the radio stations reporting to the chart are eligible for the chart.

The following Billboard airplay charts are "genre-based". For these charts, a broader base of stations qualify to report to the chart, but only songs that fit within that specific genre are eligible for the chart. So all non-qualifying songs are removed in order to create a chart based on a specific genre of music. In BDSradio these non-qualifying songs are removed from the chart by marking them as Recurrent.
